Our Mission: High Quality Neuropsychological Testing

Our Assessment Process Includes the Following:

Initial Intake Interview/Consultation

• The initial intake/consultation begins the process by interviewing caregivers/parents for about 1 hour to learn more about concerns, history, and gain understanding about the questions that can be answered through an evaluation. 

Review of History and Pertinent Records

• Dr. Reese will review pertinent birth/developmental, medical, and educational history by reviewing records, prior evaluations, etc. 

Gathering Information from Caregivers and Providers

• Based on the concerns, Dr. Reese will have caregivers complete questionnaires and other forms to inform functioning in daily life within the home setting.
• With written consent and permission, Dr. Reese will contact certain providers to gather more information about a child's functioning in various settings (e.g., school/classroom, therapies, etc.). This often includes questionnaires and rating scales for teachers or therapists to inform functioning in daily life within the school or therapeutic setting.

Testing Session(s)

• Face-to-face (in-person) evaluation with your child completing developmental and standardized testing to measure your child's thinking and reasoning, problem-solving, attention, executive functioning, language/communication, nonverbal, visual, spatial, learning and memory, academic, and behavioral, social, and emotional functioning. 
• The measures administered are individualized based on the referral question/child's functioning and to answer specific questions about the child's needs. 
• This portion typically takes about the length of a school day for elementary, middle, high school, and college-age children, and a couple of hours for very young children (babies, toddlers, preschoolers).

Integrating and Synthesizing Data and Information

• All information gathered will be scored, analyzed, and integrated by Dr. Reese.
• Information and data will be synthesized appropriately to inform a summary of strengths/weaknesses, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations.

Feedback Session

• Caregivers will meet via telehealth (virtual) visit with Dr. Reese during which the overall results/findings will be explained. 
• Any diagnoses given will also be explained and caregivers will have a chance to ask questions to best understand the findings. 
• Recommendations for next steps (e.g., therapeutic, medical, home, and school services/strategies) tailored to the findings of the evaluation will also be discussed and explained.

Written Report

• A written report outlining all aspects of the evaluation, including history, presenting concerns, findings and results of evaluation, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations/next steps for treatment will be written for families to use as a "roadmap" to guide decision-making and enhance understanding of a child's overall profile including strengths and needs. 

Follow-Up/Consultations

• If further follow-up, feedback, or consultation with other providers is needed, these services may be requested. This may include participation in school meetings, reviewing subsequent evaluations/documentation, providing letters as needed for follow-up, and answering questions about progress/development or further clarifying any questions the family has after completion of the process.
• Recommendations about neuropsychological re-evaluation will also be provided, and if repeat testing in the future is recommended, Dr. Reese may recommend further testing at specific time intervals based on the child's needs and results of the evaluation.
